Sam is a researcher and PhD Student at the University of Kent. While his day job involves nicely asking the Linux Kernel to give him the data he wants, Sam's research career has brought him into touch with a wide range of cybersecurity issues in both the physical and digital domains. He is currently focusing on increasing our understanding of the Spectre and Meltdown exploits.
Sam's passion for privacy comes from a core belief that the internet should exist as a positive tool for both communication and learning, but this can only come from a neutral playing field in which individuals can freely communicate concepts and disseminate learning materials free from repression by overly-invasive government legislature. To that end, he joined ProPrivacy in the hope of advocating for an internet built with privacy as a feature, not an afterthought.
Sam spends the spare time his work allows him to stay up to date with global trends, cryptocurrency news, cybersecurity developments, and whether or not we'll get flying cars any time soon.
